Feb 17, 2010 - Actually I think it was Oliver Postgate after all. Apologies for thinking it was Ronnie Stevens. I loved it when I was little in 1960's London

Feb 3, 2010 - Dear troikagirl though it does sound a little like WHW .....the narration was spoken by the creator Oliver Postgate !

troikagirl Says:

Feb 3, 2010 - I was just six years old when I watched this ..and I still have fond memories. It seems so primitive now...but at the time, it was magical..especially the music.I also loved the narrators voice, I think it was Wilfred Hyde White.

Mar 27, 2009 - Vernon Elliot's music is just glorious... still amazed that I remembered those bars after 30+ years. And apart from "Pretty woman" the only childhood musical memory that sounds as wonderful now. :)

skrappy7 Says:

Mar 22, 2009 - Boy does this bring back memories - how haunting the opening music is and what a wonderful voice. I'd forgotten how good the writing was, what a lovely and evocative atmosphere it created. Still looks good after all these years. Mister Postgate is probably telling stories in heaven.

SamllWonda Says:

Mar 6, 2009 - Although Oliver may be sadly gone, he will never be forgotten by so many of us who perhaps didn't quite understand completely at the time, but fell for the lyrical, liquid, lucid narration and delightful drawings of this master storyteller... I sincerely wish the creators of today's children's TV would take note, and recognize that something wonderful can grow from a beautifully told story, a child's quest for answers & imagining What IF... RIP

2DD Says:

Jan 29, 2009 - the narrator was also the writer, camera man, animator, and editor i think too, Oliver Postgate, (rip), The artwork we see was produced by Peter Firmin, they worked together as Smallfilms.

Dec 10, 2008 - As I was born in 1953, I grew up with Mr Postgate as a kindly old uncle telling me tales that I loved on the telly. I'm very sad tonight but grateful for every one of his programs. Wherever you are, I thank you.

jonskids Says:

Cool2BCeltic Says:

Dec 9, 2008 - Yes, God bless Mr Postgate. I remember seeing this in the early 70s and Noggin's search for a bride made me think of all the talk in the papers about who Prince Charles might marry. Quite a good theme tune with just a clarinet and a bassoon.
